I read A History of the World in Six Glasses for an honors project in 9th grade. It was exciting to see how certain influential drinks were on culture and politics. Thousands of years ago, someone left grain out for too long, and now wine is a drink enjoyed during special occasions. Without the accidental discovery of beer, we would not have wine or other alcoholic drinks, or the social atmosphere associated with them. The culture surrounding coffee led to significant changes in European economics and political theory because it brought people together. Looking at history from a different lens gave me a new perspective about how you look at something affects how you perceive it.
